Overview

This script disables notifications about testing new Outlook features. These are known as Coming Soon 1 2 3 or technically as Preview Place 3.

These notifications appear in the top right of Outlook's title bar 4 5 6. They invite users to try upcoming features before they become the default experience 1 2 3 4. This feature is available in Version 1806 or later of Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise 2.

The notification typically shows a message like "We've been making changes based on your feedback in Coming Soon. If you haven't tried it, now's the time to preview the updates before they become the default experience." 5. It includes a "Learn more" link and a "Got it" button, with a toggle switch labeled "Off" 5.

This script improves privacy by preventing the data collection that happens when using preview features. Preview software actively gathers usage information and feedback to help Microsoft develop features before official release, which include additional data collection 7.

After running this script, users will no longer receive prompts to try upcoming changes in Outlook 3.

Microsoft acknowledges that preview features have limited functionality, lack full support, and may not be available in all regions 7. By declining to participate in these previews, you reduce your exposure to potential privacy and security risks associated with pre-release software.

Caution

Disabling these prompts prevents access to early features, which may affect your ability to prepare for upcoming Outlook changes.
